VINTAGE 1960s SANITARY SAFE-T ICE CREAM CONE DISPENSER FROM SODA FOUNTAIN

Description

This is a steel box made to hold & dispense cones, for ice cream, at a restaurant, malt shop or soda fountain. One side is marked: "SANITARY SAFE-T CONE DISPENSER...PAT. PENDING...LEASED BY ILLINOIS BAKING CORPORATION...2-61...CHICAGO 16, ILL." The "2-61" appears to be a date. (Feb., 1961.) Also, it is marked: "CHICAGO 16, ILL." It has the old 2-digit Postal Code, which was mostly abandoned in 1964, with the introduction of the 5 digit Zip Code. Inside, it has openings to hold four stacks of cones. On the underside, there are two hinged flaps, that open & close as needed. The side with printing has openings, so it could be mounted onto a wall. This side also has a flap, so that it could be hooked onto a wire rack or shelf. The box measures approximately 5 & 1/8 inches in all directions. The condition is probably FAIR to GOOD. It has some scratches, small paint rubs, and a few spots of rust here & there. On the inside bottom, it has a white plastic-like, or rubber-like, do-hickey to holds the cones in place. This has yellowed and soiled with age. I don't think it should actually be used unless this part is changed or properly cleaned. (This is sold more as a vintage collectible than for actual use.) It still displays nicely, and is guaranteed to be old & original - made approximately 60 years ago - or your money back.
