NOTE: This is a very rare treausre. It is NOS (New Old Stock). This has NEVER been circulated or carried. And it is between 70 and 80 years old! The pencil still had to go through my special cleaning process, and the eraser was petrified, and is now replaced with a nice, usable NEW eraser.
This is a perfect gift for a bullet pencil collector, and Greyhound Racing fan, of course.
This is special to me because I am from Florida and have fond memories of going to the dog track with family. Those thundering paws on the track. Sigh.
Instead of the generic vintage stubs, I've included high quality "pencil nerd worthy" pencils that are a joy to write or draw with. They have been custom fit to THIS specific bullet pencil. The pencil stubs in this set are PALOMINO Forest Choice, and Musgrave Tennessee Reds.
These bullet pencils are lightweight. You can easily carry them in a pocket, purse, or backpack. Vintage. Practical. And very cool.
IMPORTANT: You WILL want to pamper this bullet pencils if you carry it. Do NOT put it in a pocket or purse and let it clunk up against car keys, etc. I've restored many of these over the years and the red paint on the coupler is almost always chipped. So, be careful. To have one like this, unused and restored, is a very rare thing. It is pristine!
TIPS:
You can put the stub of your favorite pencils in this bullet pencil with a few tricks. I suggest using white PAPER medical tape. It is very thin, so you can use a thin strip or two to get a snug fit. And note that some pencils may fit fine without the tape.
The majority of bullet pencils I restore have to have erasers custom fit. It is a time consuming pain in the butt. However, I have a limited amount of erasers that DO fit this bullet pencil. So, take advantage of this while you can.
